General questions
- What Dialer Queen is used for?
Dialer Queen is a program to add convenience to your everyday networking.
It automates the process of connection to your ISP and also contains a plenty of
useful stuff.
- Where can I get these "User name" and "Password"?
Contact your ISP to get your login, password and domain information.
- I do not know what my domain and I do not know how to find it.
Contact your ISP to get your domain information or leave the corresponding field blank.
- How does Dialer Queen store the password?
Dialer Queen stores your password encrypted with RSA-based algorithm.
- I don't want to trust my password to Dialer Queen. What can I do?
Ok, you can leave the "Password" field in the connection properties blank. In this case,
Dialer Queen will ask you to enter password every time you connect, and will not store it anywhere. You may also use the "Hide passwords from system" and "Startup password" options to add even more security to your dial-up networking.
- I changed one of the connection properties outside the Dialer Queen. Why
the parameters of this connection in Dialer Queen remain old?
Because Dialer Queen stores all connection information in it's own files. Every time you
start Dialer Queen it restores all connection parameters from it's own files, not from
the Windows registry. If you want changes to have effect, you must make them inside Dialer Queen.
- Can I bring up the connection properties while Dialer Queen is in small mode?
Yes, of course! Right click the connection name and the popup menu containing this option will appear.
- I added several phone numbers in the connection properties window, but Dialer Queen
still uses only one of them. What's up?
Check the option "Redialing using next phone" on the "Dial" tab in the configuration window.
- I added several phone numbers in the connection properties window, but Dialer Queen
does not dial them. The following message appears: "Connection does not have any valid phone numbers to
dial".
First, you must have at least one checked phone number in this list. Second, there must be at least
one phone number to dial at current daytime. For example, if you have two phone numbers with active periods
accordingly: from 10:00:00 to 12:00:00 and from 14:00:00 to 18:00:00, then if you wish to connect to Internet
say at 13:00:00 there will be NONE valid phone numbers to dial up.
- Can I scroll connection list with my mouse wheel?
Yes. You may do it also in a small mode.
- Can I change the order in which connections reside in the connection list?
Yes. Right click the connection name and choose the option "Move up" or "Move down" to move the connection up or down accordingly. You can also hold down the Shift key and click arrow buttons to the right of connection list.
- Why Dialer Queen doesn't redial when my connection is dropped?
You probably have unchecked an option "Redial if connection broken".
- I did not find an answer to my question here. What can I do?
You can ask you question to our support team by e-mail: support@dialerqueen.com
Tariffs related questions
- What tariffs or connection rates are used for?
Tariffs are used to count how many money you spend when you are online. Dialer Queen includes a very flexible tariffs system which allows you to set up almost all tariffs you (or your ISP) could imagine. Learn more about tariffs.
- What is the difference between tariffs and connection rates?
There is no difference at all. These are absolutelty equal terms.
- Why my connection statistics always show me a zero cost?
You must specify connection rates first.
- Why my connection statistics shows a zero cost sometimes?
Your connection rates must cover ALL periods of days and weeks.
- Can I set a cost with cents for some tariff, like: 2 dollars and 25 cents?
Yes. Just enter cents as a fractional part of cost. For example: $2.25.
- Can I enter the cost per hour, but still use tariffication by second?
Yes. In this case an overall cost of each hour will be automatically divided to the costs of one second and your session cost will be calculated each second.
- Can I use such active period as: from 21:00:00 to 04:59:59?
You can use any active periods.
- How much tariffs for each DUN entry can I create?
As much as you need.
- What is the charge for the excess of time limit?
The charge for the excess of time limit is the charge your ISP takes from you when you have exceeded you quota of Internet time (for example, 100 hours per month).
Limits related questions
- What limits are used for?
Limits are used to help you save your money and to control time you spend online. For more info refer to thelimits section of this help.
- When should I choose limits to depend on tariffs? And when this feature can be useful at all?
You should choose limit to be dependent on tariffs if you want this limit to be applied to some tariffs only. See limits examples for more info. Another case when this feature can be used is when one of your ISP's rates includes the charge for the excess of time or traffic limit.
- What does mean the "Reset limit" button?
This button is used to manually reset the limit whenever you want. Usually each limit is reset automatically at the end of period or at the end of limit, but you may need to do it by yourself.
- What does mean the option "Reset at the disconnect"?
This option is used to create warning limits. See limits examples to learn how you can do it.
- What does mean the option "Reset at the end of limit"?
This option is used when your limit doesn't have any expiration period. For example, Internet card with fixed amount of money on it and without expiration period.
- I can't choose the period when creating my limit, the dropdown list is disabled. Why?
If you chose to reset limit at the end of limit then there is no need to choose any period.
